When talking about people with limitations and special needs people tend to avoid the subject and it becomes a taboo topic for most, but having a label of special needs is not a death sentence. More and more with more technology and programs that are being made for those with certain limitations the whole taboo topic is now evolving and more people are becoming aware of what is going on in the world around them outside their own bubbles. With those who ignore the issue it is because they do not understand what it means to have special needs and some people become scared because they do not understand it.
Now with the technologies and different researches that are being done starting with autism now people are more aware because it is everywhere and they can’t hide from the topic anymore, but some people still don’t want to be informed. Those with special needs are people just like you and me they just view the world differently than others, but who says that every one of us do not view the world different it is impossible for each person to be the same everyone sees and thinks differently and it’s not different for someone with special needs. In the past even schools thought having special needs was taboo and there was not enough programs for those with limitations and in the past that caused those with limitations to either not go to school or be failing because the programmes weren’t adapted for them and they were known as those who were “slow” or “doesn’t care”, but now with the research it is shown that they did care, but they couldn’t follow with what was going on because it was not to their level of understanding. Now more and more there are segregated schools with programmes that meets the needs of those with limitations and there is a higher success rate for them now that they have programs adapted to their own needs.
Even in the mainstream schools it is a must to have a resource classroom to be able to help those who may need more help and do not need to be in a segregated school. You may be asking what is the difference between a mainstream school and segregated school, well a mainstream school is for “atypical” students and there may be some students in this school who have ADD, ADHD or learning disabilities, but that are able to be in the school, but will need a more specific program like the resource classes so they can do work at their pace and have it adapted if need be where they work on things in a smaller group to make it easier to complete and focus on their work. Where a segregated school is more for those with limitations in society, socially, emotionally and academically where they focus on everything and not just the academics and they put each student in a class where it meets their needs and at their developmental stage and have different programs to work closely with their social, emotional and academic skills. Now there is more possibilities for those with limitations and the more technology and research there is the more informed people will be and will be able to see that those with special needs are not any different from us just because they have certain limitations. There is a potential in everyone no matter who you are we are all unique in our special ways.

hey there,
Thanks for the link and well done for focusing on such an important topic.
One small suggestion is to make some paragraph breaks in your writing so it doesn’t read as one long paragraph but gives people’s eyes a rest every now and then – i find it makes people a lot more likely to read your stuff as big chunks of text sometimes scare people off…
But keep at it, thanks again
